Faze Vs North
Two of the most experienced teams on the CS:GO scene will go head-to-head in the opening Group B fixture of the ESL One: Road to Rio event for Europe.
FaZe Clan and Team North know each other quite well despite not crossing paths at the pro events recently. Captain NiKo and his team come into this after a disappointing ESL Pro League run, while the Danes led by Kjaerboy have strung together some good displays at the Home Sweet Home Cup.
I’m eager to see what the betting options are here and my FaZe vs. North betting preview for today does exactly that. I explore the odds and provide my prediction on the matchup based on recent form and a couple of key stats.
The prices below are courtesy of 10Bet’s sportsbook. Let’s see what the main betting markets offer:
Valde (7:10) Deagle - NiKo vs. Aizy (10:9) AK47 - olofmeister vs. K0nfig (10:9) CZ75 - karrigan vs. MSL (10:4) AWP - GuardiaN vs. Cajunb (5:10) Total score: FaZe vs. North (42:42) FaZe are the winners due to taking 3 of the 5 duels. Winner receives an additional $20,000. 3rd place in the rankings will choose their opponent from. North got the skill to match faze and the fundamental cs to back it up, this will be a walk in the park for the North bois, UNLESS faze wins a few clutches and TILT/Choke/shit Happens, but it shouldnt happen now with valdemort so ez north. Prediction: FaZe ban Vertigo North ban Mirage FaZe pick Nuke North pick Dust 2 FaZe ban Overpass North ban Train Inferno left over Might be different maps if North bans first instead, because FaZe will have more choice of the 2nd and 3rd map (and they seem to waver on their 3rd map of choice). Despite their recent poor form, FaZe are the overwhelming favorite here and with good reason. Will North be able to challenge a Top 10 team right now? Let’s try to find out and see where the betting value lies.
FaZe Clan
The European organization is still considered to have an elite CS:GO team but their results at the ESL Pro League were poor.
They did make it to the advanced stages but consequently fell to all the favorites. Astralis blasted them in record time, while mousesports and eventual champions Fnatic also had comfortable outings.
But the biggest low point was blowing away a huge lead against Natus Vincere. It was absolutely inexcusable and an end-of-the-tournament win against OG will do little to console the team.
However, I expect they will have a good start at the ESL One: Road to Rio as there are several lower-ranked teams in Group B, and North is one of them.
The Danes didn’t make it out of their ESL Pro League group but not a lot of people expected they would. After all, top dogs like Natus Vincere, Fnatic, and the tough Russians from forZe were all there.
Despite the early exit, two wins from five was not a bad record for the team and they have been playing some good Counter-Strike at the Home Sweet Home Cup event recently.
Faze Vs North Prediction
Their tactics are effective on most maps but the team simply lacks that bit of extra quality to make their preparations count in the decisive moments.
FaZe vs. North Prediction and Pick
I reckon this will be a quick one. FaZe may have disappointed at the Pro League but they were still battling the real elite, while North was thrown out early and have been plying their trade at lower-tier tournaments.
Given that FaZe usually start events on a high and the fact that they hold a much better head-to-head record, I feel like a 2:0 win is on the cards here.
The spread option provides great odds in these circumstances and that’s where the betting value lies for me.

Faze vs. North Predictions
Faze and North go a long way. These teams have played against each other a total of sixteen times, and Faze is the better team. Ten wins for NiKo and the boys, and only one of them going all the way to the overtime. North can boast with six wins, which is an admirable feat against a top-tier side such as Faze Clan, despite all of their rollercoaster performances in recent months.
Here’s how the story goes in terms of their most recent matches:
Recent Matches
When it comes to most recent matches, both teams have enjoyed quite a bit of ups and downs. North, for instance, had a surprisingly underwhelming performance at the first Home Sweet Home Cup. They strolled through the group stage but failed to make an impression in the playoffs, defeating Endpoint but suffering a disheartening defeat against Team Spirit.
Faze Clan, on the other hand, had an atrocious second group stage on ESL Pro League S11 EU. They started off with four consecutive defeats, only to beat OG in the last round in a match that meant nothing to NiKo and the boys.
Long story short, both teams are in pretty lousy form at the moment. They’ll definitely be looking for something special to push themselves off the ground and propel to greatness with a first-round win tomorrow.
Concrete CS:GO Picks
Map-pool-wise, this one could go either way. Faze is better on Mirage, Inferno and Overpass (arguably), while North takes down Dust 2 (only just), Nuke, Train, and Vertigo. If the map pool is any indicator of how this one is going to pan out, North has a slight advantage. That said – individual performance and experience go in Faze Clan’s favor, while map pool depth and upset potential go in favor of North
Faze Vs North
It’s time for me to share my final Faze vs. North predictions and call it done. I’m sure most of you can already tell which way this one is going to go. With that in mind, here’s what I’m thinking about:
Faze to win 2-1 is hands down the best bet you can make here. In fact, it’s my default pick for this match.
